The "mistaken for a cat" part of this one is intriguing...
I'll have figure this one out or pop trying.

I actually thought of that but then dismissed it due to the fact that they eat insects.

yeah fantastic "lemur" is derived from the Latin word lemures, meaning "spirits of the night
I went to a zoo a few years ago and the Ring tailed Lemurs were not in cages they just walked around the zoo. they were very playful. I took this photo of one of them from right next to it.
This animal ventures out at night so is rarely seen, has characteristic markings and excellent hearing, It is a bit of a loner and lives in high altitude forests with dense cover of shrubs, reeds, and grassand is found in Europe, North America, Canada and the Far east
No, well they have tufts of black hair on the tip of their ears
Is it the Lynx? (Latin term: Felis Lynx)

This creature is a bit of a loner as well and is rarely seen, it is known for being rather 'gluttoness' and has a reputation of having some major attitude.

Well done Michael, It does look rather mean, I would not want to come across that in a dark forest
