Like I said, if you want to walk on tracks for the experience...I strongly recommend the railroad like the CT train...Polly, whats it called again? I should know, I am from Westchester County...LOL

and Jay, there are some things as a New Yorker I have not experienced due to how things change with time. I am sure you grew up during the times when the trains were sprayed painted all crazy......and when Harlem was rocking, and when Times Square was unlike it is today. I am fortunate to get the tail end of those days. I do remember the spray painted subways, although I was very young. When I went out to explore myself, the trians were painted and more safe. Then as time progressed with new Mayors and Governers....somethings changed such as Harlem and Times Square are not like how I remember when I was a teenager. New York is a great place with wonderful adventures..but, the adventures tend to change with the time. I am not an old fart, but some of the things I did growing up in NY, does not apply to the days and times of today. I wish Gen to have a NY experience to the fullest, but if we can discourage any dangerous behaviors....I think it is best.......Sorry if I sound like Ma and Pa Liz and Jay, with Auntie Polly...but, we really care about Gen! .....Oh, and I do miss NY, but when I walk the streets, park my car, I don't have the same confidence I did when I was younger. I am definitely more caucious........

there are some people you just dont tell what to do, else they will definitely do it just out of principle. I am definitely one of those. For example, i quit smoking when people STOPPED harrasing me about it. When someone would tell me to stop, Id purposely light up. When they finally gave up and left me alone, I quit on my own terms.

I know Gen pretty well and in that regard I suspect shes a lot like me. I also know Gen has been through a lot in life and has a great head on her shoulders. Beside, she very clearly said she knew it was nuts after she did it, just like I knew it was nuts when I walked through that tunnel (i was 17 and drunk as a skunk )

Give the girl some credit guys. I doubt shed repeat it, but not because you TOLD her not to, but because she KNOWS. I never got on a track again and I suspect no one has to tell Gen NOT to do it again. Besides, Gen is hardly one to follow a crowd.

BTW, its the MetroNorth railroad and those tracks are a thousand times more dangerous than the New York City subway. And New York back in the days you are referring to, was a thousand times more dangerous than it is now. In fact, New York is the safest large city in the US, hands down.

Jay dearest, I give Gen credit - she's alive isn't she? I know Gen is a really smart woman and I commend her for living her Life the way she wants too, like a real independent 21st century woman - more power to her!

But, there are moments where it is best - to just let it go and to be cool with that ... that's all I am saying. *geez*

Obviously - Gen is not going to do it again not because we 'told' her but because it already happened, she made the decision and it's done, and stored in the 'We don't this again.' File in the brain department. But really it was a split second decision and she knew she had some time on her side .... Gen is smart and can keep her cool and wits about herself.

And, I'll have you know my friend, like you - I never respond well to being 'told' what 'I' should do .... but I do appreciate it when people express that they care ... HA! So, there!

Wow... Im gone and there's a discussion the size of Texas bout me.. I can feel the love and the mother-henning. LOL. But yeah.. if you want to know, my phone is actually not working now. Broke this morning so that makes this scenario even worse, right? So no more diving into the subway to get phones that break days later and i doubt I will ever walk to the next station as Jay Did because I'm mad chicken. (Too many rats, although I have to admit, some of the mice are kinda cute to me.)
And I was just curious, as I think i know, but MetroNorth is outta Grand Central Right?

But all that aside...another amazing day. As you know Tzvika is in America for the first time and we've been hanging out almost everyday. Today we met up, got coffee (I got him addicted to White Mocha's at Starbucks.. hahaha), ate and when we came out of the restraunt... lo behold it started to snow! This is his first snowfall and he was so intrigued. Afterwards went to see the Tim Burton Exhibition at Moma (Museum of Modern Art) which was amazing and then caught a comedy show uptown. Was mad fun.. when we came out, there had to be adleast six inches of snow on the ground and we walked mad long blocks to get to the train, understood what cold meant and laughed when i fell on my arse at Lexington Avenue. Another initiation for becoming a true New Yorker right?
It just an amazing day to be with him while he experienced his first snowfall. (This is my Third time actually seeing it so I was excited too...) I'm watching it come down outside my window right now.. I was knee deep in it coming home. Tomorrow we plan to meet again and, depending on the severity of the storm, go to Central Park and Make snow angels and have mad fun snowball fights.... LOL. We are so not from the north

Soooo.... i was at the train station today fumbling trying to put on my glove and thought of the bright idea to put my phone in my mouth to hold it. Of course its one of those dinosaur thick phones and falls out of my mouth, bounces on the pavement and then lands right on the subway track face open...... I stop, look at it knowing that it would be minutes before it was just demolished. So what did I do? I jumped down into the subway.. grabbed it and pulled myself back out. Two minutes later... the train came.

Okay. I am officially worried about my self destructive ways.....

I'm afraid to ask what you'd be willing to do to save your new phone, which is alot better than that ancient piece of crap .
