    Default The Movie Thread

Anybody want to recommend any good movies to watch, I have seen a few over the last few weeks that I thought were pretty good. better be careful not to post any possible spoilers for people who have not see the films...

    I watched this last night

    Four Christmases

Its about a couple (Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn) who try to avoid seeing the family over the christmas holidays but find they have no choice, very funny.

    Also watched

    "Taken"

which is a very good action thriller staring "Liam Neeson" about an ex CIA operative searching for his daughter.

There is a lot of buzz about "Twilight" anybody seen it yet?

    Great!...A movie thread

I think I am in love with Will Smith.....(j/k). It is sort of like Denzel Washington. When these guys do movies....it's like a must see! Their movies are always great!

I saw 'Serpico' for the first time not long ago. Excellent movie and Al Paccino is great there.

The last Will Smith film I watched was "Hancock" which was funny, an alcoholic superhero crashing into signs and cars and stuff and not caring what he trashed lol. The other movies I have seen him in over the last few years have also been excellent, "The pursuit of happyness" and the brilliant "I am Legend"

Love Al Pacino, Serpico is a great film, I watched Scarface recently for the first time in Years, what a movie

My partner would probably like 'The Other Boleyn Girl' she is into all these period dramas, she loves anything to do with Anne Boleyn or Henry VIII.

"Say hello to my little friend!"

I must've seen Scarface 5 times already. Paccino there is better than in The Godfather 1&2 in my opinion.

I am a big fan of gangster movies, one of my favorites is "Once upon a time in America" an fantastic film. A new mob film staring Robert De Niro is being made called "Frankie machine" about an ex mob hit man coming out of retirement, due in 2010. Al Pacino and De Niro have made some awesome mob films

Ever seen a movie called "City of God" ? Its brazillian. Heavily influenced by the Goodfellas and almost every Tarantino movie.

Oh yes, City of God, is a very good gan-sta film, long, but good! After watching it, I found it really hard to believe that Gisele Bunchen and her twin came from the ghettos of Rio de Janeiro....lucky I guess?

Well, I am taking a wild guess here, but since your from the UK and dig gangster films, that you have seen Guy Ritches films Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.....I love Snatch....never thought I would love a violent movie....but I love this one!

Oh, I love this thread! I know I'll be adding more movies titles here!

Your dead right Sphinx, I love Guy Ritchies movies, Snatch is excellent , violent but funny and Brad Pitt as the Irish gypsy with his mad dialect

Lock Stock is one of my favorite movies, great characters, real criminals, superb story and soundtrack, Vinnie Jones was the star of this film in my book you wouldn't think he had only been in a few films before this..

"It's been emotional." ... what a classic line

    I agree.

Movies I recommend are Blade Runner, Seven, The Alien series, Pan's Labyrinth, Children of Men, In the Mood for Love, Ghost in the Shell ... to name a few.

    Alice in Wonderland
What I like about Tim Burton's work, is that he employs Johnny Depp in almost everything he does!

Similar to Ivory Merchant, they always use the same cast of actors (more-or-less) Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham-Carter, Rupert Graves, and Simon *what's his last name*?....hmm, I'll look for it and add it later.

I know that either Ivory or Merchant, passed away within the past few years!

Together they did, A Room with a View, Where Angels Fear to Tread, Howard's End, and Maurice and a few other films which I can't remember right now.....

Peter and I recently saw "Zack and Miri Make a Porno". It's not for everyone but as we're big Kevin Smith fans, we just loved it. Not for the faint hearted or the easily offended but absolutely hilarious otherwise.

Once of the last movies I saw before that was quite a while ago but I highly recommend is 'Smart People'. It's a bit quirky and slightly odd but I think that's mainly why I like it. It's a bit messed up and so untraditional for a movie which I find attractive in a film. It stars Dennis Quaid and also Sarah Jessica Parker in a very unlikely role.

If you liked 'Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind' then I think you'd like it.

If you like vampires and Sweden (honestly, who doesn't ) you should have a look at 'Let The Right One In'.
