Throughout the past seven years approximately a pair of redtailed hawks have been living in the immediate area where I live. For the first time I've been able to witness the offspring of their pairing. They apparently nested near my apartment and gave birth to a baby. I've listened to it calling out to it's parents for meals, etc. At first I didn't realise it was the baby of the hawk pair, although it's call is both distinct and louder than the other birds in this area. It wasn't until two days ago when it came flying past my balcony that I realized it was the baby hawk I had been listening to. It was very cool to see this large baby hawk flying close enough to my balcony that I could see the 'baby down' while listening to it calling out to it's parents while flying. It's flight appeared a bit unsteady but strong. Soon enough it will be on it's way to find it's own home and life partner.

I'm still smiling each time I hear the baby hawk outside.

It is that my friend! I have the car (woohoo!) - not had it in a while with Martin going home pretty much every weekend. The sun is shining at last and I feel a need to get out and about in nature....bringing the camera with me of course![]()
