Althought they are not tails in the true sense, crickets do have 'tail-like' protrusions. With the 'commonn cricket', the male has two while the female has three with the center one being longer and more needlelike (ovapositor). Although I suspect it's rare, the female can pull the ovapositor beneath her body (I don't believe it's by choice.) I happened acrossed one laying eggs and startled it, which I believe prompted it to try escaping before it physically could.
Beneath is an artist rendering of several species, including the common cricket.

LOL. Random Thoughts & Crickets... When my two cats were still with me I used to go to the pet store and purchase approximately six crickets to bring home, set lose and let my cats chase after them.

hi, i had to work over Easter ..and was in charge of putting the chocolate eggs etc out at 11 pm when i got home ..my 8 year old wrote a lovely note with a picture to the bunny ,left a carrot and some parsely (my husbands idea) so heres me at 11.10pm trying to use my front teeth like a rabbit to make fake markings ..and leave the right amount on the paper ..and imagine what a bunny's writing would be when replying because she wrote " write here " at the bottom ..which is a new edition.. phew all went well she was pleased (decieved in the best of ways ) ...
